We recently completed another round of investigative work on “offers” we’ve either seen, heard or been asked about from the multiple companies who offer flash drives as a product line. We must admit, we had a great time with many chuckles and even some perplexed looks from the staff. Surprisingly enough, a host of  “offers” we found online turned out to not really be offers or were not honored as the print on the website promised or else they simply weren’t true.

I personally get so frustrated by these things as it seems anyone is allowed to say anything, when, in reality, they have zero intention of honoring any advertised, printed or spoken request. So much so, I thought I would share some of the most absurd and comical things people will say or do when it comes to selling flash drives online.

Things That Look Flashy But Don’t Hold Water

Ever wondered if everyone sells the same flash drive to Disney? I’ve seen the same drive pictured on more than 20 websites! Or, why with testimonials does it seem that so many come from John Smith or Mary Jones? Speaking of testimonials, one flash drive company website I visited went so far as to “borrow” the testimonials from a UK flash drive company website, and then they attributed them all to Fortune 500 companies! And then there’s live chat. How many times can you try live chat only to find out it is offline? Sometimes I wonder if it’s ever online.

I could go on and on. As with any business, it is MORE important to know and trust whom you are dealing with than it is to know the product, but, ESPECIALLY with a business where words like USB flash drives, USB jump drives, USB memory sticks, USB flash keys, USB’s, memory sticks and many more are all EXPECTED to be the same thing. A friend recently told me, aren’t you just talking about a prettier birdhouse relative to different flash drives and flash technologies. My simple answer…… luckily, the birds don’t have to decide!
