Born to be (Kinda) Wild

In case you haven’t clicked around CFgear’s website, consider this your “extra extra read all about it” newsflash that CFgear’s techno-genius headquarters are located smack dab in the eastern South Dakota prairie. And yes, it’s still a far- from-balmy 40 degrees around here. We did have a brief glimpse into the good life last week, however. I remember being out back and having a “sense” that old man Winter had finally retired to the sweet smells and sounds of Happy Spring. Naturally, I started to think about the freedoms the warm-season offers like perhaps a sailing excursion out at “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” (I really do have an uncle Tom who has a cabin…and a sailboat!), evening walks with my family to the treasured Zesto (local ice cream shop), movie night on the screened-in patio and my most recent addition, “riding my bike”.

Now as much as I do love peddling my bicycle around, last Spring, after months of drive-by contemplation, I decided to invest in my first true “bike bike” - no peddles but a heck of a lot more power. Not much power mind you. “She’s” only 400 cc’s, but that’s plenty for my novice biking abilities. After all, it’s the mere spirit of riding the two-wheeled machine that helps rekindle my “kinda” wild side. But that wild side had to wait as all of last summer was literally spent (more than what I paid for the bike!) getting the retro wonder in riding condition. After several trips in and out of small engine repair shops, I finally had the 1974 Kawasaki KZ400 purring. Just in time to winterize ‘er in fact. Argggh. So you can imagine how ready I was after my spider senses caught wind of the first inkling of spring last week.

It took a while to get ‘er purring again. About 100 or so kick starts give or take a few shin bruises actually. But it was well worth the effort. And within the first blocks of the 2008 maiden voyage, I was greeted by a couple “hardcore” bikers floatin’ in from the open road. They gave me “the wave” - two fingers extended just beyond the handle bar…relaxed, intentional, as if to say “welcome to the club”.

While it sounds crazy that in a time of such delightful acceptance and their acknowledging that even little old boring me has a (kinda) wild side, my thoughts turned towards CFgear and how, in a very similar sense, we cruise in and out of our client’s lives, give ‘em not just “the wave”, but also years of experience in helping them fire up their own custom flash drives, made exactly to meet the demands of their wildest imagination.

No. That’s not a stretch of my imagination either. I really did think those things, have those thoughts. And even was given “the wave” that inspired ‘em in the first place. And no I’m not crazy because CFgear is what comes to mind during some of the most exhilarating moments of my life. Why? Because you, the client, NEVER cease to stop amazing me with your truly novel “can we do this” approach to custom flash drive projects. I love the fact that while you know your skills in the world of custom flash drives may be novice-like, you place your whole-hearted trust in our expertise. And it’s because of this approach that we are able to produce so many wonderful end products and solutions.
