Bulk Tea, Coffee, and USB
Rumor has it someone hit the main server box somewhere in Whodunnitville causing half the town’s internet to go kaput. Naturally, I migrated towards my home away from home - Cottonwood Coffee - where the wifi was indeed hot. Cottonwood’s proprietors, Jacob and Sarah (we go by first names here!), have created a nerve center for folks to gather and commiserate over righteously simple yet delightfully flavorful food and drink.
Once again the day’s adversity inspired another flash drive thought. There are in an interesting (to me!) way, a lot of parallels between a coffee shop and the branded usb drives we’re serving up at CFgear. The first and most obvious is the reality that tea and coffee, the heart of the beverage menu at a coffee shop (duh!) come in bulk. Bulk, whole coffee beans in bags and bulk tea in canisters is generally the style used. None of this prepackaged, standard stuffola. Not much different around the CFgear office either. We have bulk flash drives stacked up (in an orderly fashion mind you) ready to be made to order, exactly to your “taste”.
Another parallel I observed was that music always seems to set the mood of a coffee shop. And Cottonwood taps into some of the purest independent airwaves around. Same here at CFgear. We actually have teamed up with Indiedrive.com to help give independent music and musicians the first usb-album marketplace. We’re also working with Aderra to help bring live concert goers branded bulk wrist band flash drives complete with the concert they just listened to ripped right on the drive.
It might be a bit of a stretch, but since the world of coffee making has grown more into an art these days to the point contests are being held to see who’s the best Barista around, I guess CFgear could be considered a USBarista!? But you get the idea. In fact, we know there’s very much an art as much as a science to all the elements surrounding bulk flash drives. Different production styles, different blends, different crops…all very volatile. All of which we’ve become expert at sorting through the weeds to make sure the final product is nothing less than perfect on your promotional flash drive palette.
