Embassy Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!

I learned a lot during last week’s escapade to Omaha. I, of course, was able to gain a tremendous amount of insight into the “road to the major league.” Lots of hard work involved. Some luck along the way. And undoubtedly a passion for the game.

One unexpected highlight of the trip was the result of someone’s passion for making travelers feel a sense of “home” away from home. The first few days away from home were spent at Harrah’s in Council Bluffs and the Comfort Inn just a few miles from Rosenblatt Stadium. Ok places for the most part. But when my son and I joined the rest of the family at the Embassy Suites, we truly felt the warm fuzzy that I’m sure the architects and visionaries behind the design and detail of the new hotel were aiming for.

The not so great part about traveling to new parts of the world is dealing with the unknowns of where you’ll be resting your weary self each night. And, as folks know in their search for customized flash drives, the virtual nature of the internet isn’t always the best approach to finding someone that seems to feel like “home” when it comes to helping you feel comfortable and confident that all the details will be handled professionally and seamlessly. In fact, when searching for hotels for the first part of our trip, I relied on some insight from the likes of Expedia, Priceline and Hotels.com. Those are great tools to help you get initial information, but I think the real decisions are made when you speak with the actual hotel(s) you’re contemplating. Interestingly enough, Harrah’s of Council Bluffs seemed more impressive on the virtual end of things. And while the folks on the other end of the reservation phone call were helpful, the hotel itself was kinda just there if ya catch my drift.

The second night was spent at the Comfort Inn. Contrary to the Harrah’s Council Bluffs experience, some comments explained how the service and demeanor at the front desk were less than “happy.” But when I called to make the reservation, I was excitingly impressed with the positive spirit of the woman helping me. And when we arrived, we were greeted with smiles and a simple, clean facility to help us continue our journey “comfortably.”

Then came the “5 star” treatment as my son labeled it – the Embassy Suites of La Vista. Holy Schmoley!! What a world of difference the details make. Lukas checked us in and had the brightest, “bestest” (yes I can make that a word if I want to!) personality. And I need to make up and say that the bell hop and, well, everyone in the place just seemed inspiringly mindful and happy. I couldn’t stop thinking “What a sweet place this is!” And I couldn’t stop thinking “Geezz. I hope this is what CFgear’s clients think about us when they first step inside our home in search of bulk flash drives.” Like the design and spirit behind the Embassy Suites, CFgear set out since day one to bring personality and warmth into the all too sterile world of branded flash drives. In fact, if we played that game of “if you were a hotel, what hotel what would your company be,” I’d like to think we would be this particular Embassy Suites.

One of the most wonderful surprises came from the note on the table when we entered our room. It indeed captured the intention, vision and purpose behind every ounce of detail of the hotel. An image of the note is attached (and likely doesn’t do it justice), so I’ll include an excerpt from the note that seems to serve as a perfect little summary.

“We are all travelers. From ‘birth till death’ we travel between the eternities. May these days be pleasant for you, profitable for society, helpful for those you meet, and a joy to those who know and love you best.”

So for all those looking for a place to call home for your personalized flash drives, ditto to that!
