Intelligent Transport

Well the ol’ scooter is working its way up to the 1300 mile mark. About time to change the oil and get ‘er ready for the next 1000 miles! Whenever I hop on that thing I always feel so great…thinking how much money I’m saving in fuel plus just how “green” the concept is overall.

Sure. I’m a very impressionable person. So those of you out there who are perhaps scoffing at my seemingly bandwagon nature of being kind to mother earth, there’s no doubt a bit of truth in your thinking. I’d like to think I’m wholeheartedly and always have been conscious about the way I live, realizing that my choices affect everyone and everything in the world. I believe we are all related whether we will ever realize how or to what extent. But as I admitted, my attention to being kind to our planet and being interested in alternative energy and intelligent transportation has most likely been a product of all the attention the media and marketers are sponsoring lately.

But hey, regardless of what inspires change or action, you can’t fault someone for still doing good, for changing their behaviors in an effort to reduce waste and retire the expensive thinking that bigger is better. We don’t need all the stuff we have. And with new technology like flash drives, we’re learning to intelligently transport information without having to waste reems of paper. So whether you intentionally set out to preload your promotional materials on flash drives because you knew it would eliminate printing and thus reduce waste, the reality is you can still feel good about being apart of a solution that’s in essence saving forests of trees.

That’s the way it worked with the scooter. We originally wanted one for convenience. We live in a quaint college town with nothing more than a handful of miles separating the opposite fringes. So there’s a lot of times when all ya really need is something to “scoot” across town! Heck, I’d even go so far as to say we wanted one because we thought it would be fun. We purchased our scooter last year when fuel prices were probably half of what they currently are. So I guess you could say we bought ‘er at the right time. Last I checked it was double what we paid for it due to the high demand…and that’s due to the increasing numbers at the pump.

My point is this. While we didn’t invest in the scooter because we were in search of mother-earth loving, intelligent transportation, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the reality that the scooter has turned out to be exactly that! It gets about 100 mpg ‘round town and has no sweat hangin’ on the fastest roads since it’s a 150cc.

So as I said, even if you come into the world of customized flash drives for no other reason than you maybe saw ‘em at a tradeshow and thought “hey that’s neat!”, you have all the right to feel great about knowing flash drives are indeed a “green” product.
