Lady Luck Offers Inspiration & Color on Final Day of CES in Vegas
Yowsers. Four glorious days of zooming in and out of electronicland. Enough to give me nightmares. But day four did prove to be one of the most wondrous of all days. I don’t speak from experience, but the beat on the CES street was that the main Hall at the Hilton was emptier than a church on Monday. Apparently there were a few too many enticing festivities to be had Wednesday evening. The CFgear fam tucked into bed before 12 bells as we’ve all been taught many times that nothing good ever happens past midnight….except in Vegas I think. I took advantage of a healthy night of slumber and pretended the entire main Hilton Hall was mine and only mine…I was the VIP entitled to tour the best of the best at CES 2008 with no shoulders to avoid, no hustle and bustle to endure, just me and a room full of wonder.

While Panasonic’s 150″ TV was a “someone pinch me please” experience, you would expect that I’m going to fixate on the flash memory revolutions that were proudly on display. Even MSNBC got on the flash memory bandwagon. That’s the sign of good times to come for CFgear and its clients! We had to chuckle just a bit, however, as several years back we were already diggin’ in on that so called “trend” of the 2008 CES show. In fact, we were long ago focusing on ways to build better, faster, more encrypted, more durable, more versatile custom flash drives. Imagining how the market would evolve…into video…audio…within and around itself even. Now, with the announcements and attention inspired by major players like Samsung and Canon who are building flash memory into their most advanced video equipment, the mainstream marketplace is “geared” for a flash drive phenomenon.
Surrounded by such positive advancements, it’s clear that the path toward premium standard electronics is not much different than that of the custom electronics (or in our case custom flash drive) marketplace - the path towards “premium” remains less traveled. What I mean is despite the reality that CES 2008 offered three convention Halls full of electronic doodads and wizzlewonders to be borderline overwhelmed by, much of what was on display and coined by hungry media goers to be “hot off the production floor” has actually been in imagination, careful research and strategic development for months and years by those who dare to dream, those brave enough to be visionary industry leaders.
So much philosophy from a bulk flash drive businessman I know. In fact, I was feeling a bit light headed from information overload so I decided it was time to stroll down the historically charmed Freemont Street. It took a while to decompress from all the glitz and glamor and bells of whistles of the CES2008, but as I strolled down Freemont it occurred to me that good ol’ Lady Luck had been with the CFgear fam the entire journey. Smiling sincerely yet silently. For even among the best of the best in our industry, we remain solid and confident in our ability to deliver not mere branded thumb drive products, but excitingly advanced, strategically sophisticated custom flash drive solutions.
