Not exactly the Jackpot (yet), but we had the Midas Touch

We got a late start on the show because the new year has blessed us with “many a person” interested in our journey of providing THE best custom flash drives on da planet! Thank you ALL for your trust and support. We are grateful. So we spent a few hours answering emails and making a few calls. Angie and Wayne finally had to lock our computers in the room safe and hide the code so Jonathan and Cari couldn’t obsess about work work work. Good idea in hindsight as there was plenty to see, er, miss (read on…you’ll “see”).

While things weren’t exactly tropical on the weather front (cloudy and 40ish), the CFgear fam discovered a healthy way to get rolling after a night of indulging in Sin City – a tropical smoothie.

Eating healthy is not foreign to us. Heck, we’re actually a high maintenance crew. Between me having to basically do a organic and non-gmo quality control check of the menu and Cari able to eat only gluten-free, the odds were against us that we’d find a “bet ya can’t find a health-conscious place to eat breakfast” en route to the CES. But low and behold as we steered our “we got suckered into buying the extra insurance” rental car North to the Hilton Convention Center, there she was, the home of Tropical Smoothies.

While I don’t want to obsess about how darn good the smoothie was, I thought it only fair to mention the wonderful touch while entering the enjoyable oasis – Grandpa Jim. As we walked up, there he was, all bright and cheery, opening the door for us. Now that’s the way to do it! Kinda how we feel about custom usb flash drive. If there was door to CFgear in ol’ internet land, just imagine one of us standing here, holding ‘er open and welcoming ya into the healthy world of custom flash drives. Ok ok. Moving onward about our day at CES.

Parking was an issue. Guess 300,000 people were all surprised to learn that “1 block away” parking was not possible. We eventually made it in 14 hours later only to learn that the person in charge of ordering lanyards for the 300,000 people who were now all fuming about walking an extra few blocks was obviously not aware that 300,000 RSVP’s meant that many were actually coming. And unaware to us, the veterans of CES want to wear their CES badge everywhere in Vegas as if to say, “I could be the next Bill Gates so bow to me”. The CFgear fam just rolled with the punches. We clipped on our badges and headed on in. Only trouble was we have a dangerous combination of OCD and ADD. So we didn’t make ‘er that far.

I’ll give ya a run down of what we did see – lots of electronics stuff. Imagine that, eh?! SQ technology seemed to the one “what’s new in the world of flash drive” worth mentioning. The technology claims to make flash drives more universally acceptable by both be it a Mac or PC Operating System or any USB port as well as approximately double the read/write speeds. If what they “claim” (they’re spending oodles on patents!) is true, we’re in for some refreshingly easy and smooth custom flash drive products soon.

After nearly 5 hours of winding through what turned out to be not even 10% of the entire CES, we figured we better scoot on over to the Sands to catch the glitz and glam of the big boy exhibitors only to be verbally abused by the gate keepers – “SHOWS CLOSED!!!! COME BACK AT 8 AM!” Geeesh. A far cry from Grandpa Jim back at the ol’ smoothie place. Oh well. Guess those guys don’t eat healthy…thus the attitude.

We ventured back to home base just in time for Angie to catch a few pointers from Scotty Nguyen, World-Champion Poker Player. After answering some more emails, we decided it was maybe time to take in a show outside of electronics. So we hit the Strip and enjoyed what Cari coined as the best “free” show in Vegas – the Bellagio Fountains. I agree! But I had no idea it’s majestic touch would inspire Cari and Angie to give us yet another free show in Vegas – Cari and Angie’s interpretive dance of the Bellagio Fountains. Now that’s entertainment!

Forgot the mention we extended the CFgear fam by one Tuesday night. Jeremy Wagner literally dropped in for the eve (he flies C-130’s in the USAF) to take in his first Sin City experience. I feel mucho safer knowing that folks like him are “up and out” there protecting our homeland! Kudos to you, Jeremy! Funny thing is, that out of all the exploring we did (New York New York, Bellagio, Eiffel Tower, this and that), Jeremy seemed most intrigued and inspired by the 2GB NoCreditLimit Wayne pulled out of his wallet. Jeremy’s convinced this is the perfect gift he’s getting for his “soon to be groomsmen”. No argument here. In fact, I’m so excited about the idea that I’m contemplating either coming up with “the Jeremy” or “the Groomsman” drive to bring it to life.

Beyond the last call at the “what I know it as the piano bar but it’s actually called The Bar at Times Square” at NYNY and Angie having the Midas Touch, we called ‘er a night and geared up for Day 3 of the CES! And in case you’re wondering what the colorful pic [above] is, imagine me lying on my back in the lobby of the Bellagio. Nope. I have no problem making a fool of myself for the sake of a good photo!
