A job fair can be a confusing affair. Booths set up everywhere, people milling all around, signs posted up high and down low, and all around “organized chaos.” Those coming in to search for a job may find the atmosphere intimidating and hard to navigate. Already stressed people find themselves stressed even more as they wander among the booths. That is why those organizing the event must plan long before it starts to make everything as accessible and easy to understand and find as possible.
Custom flash drives can save the day! Consider designing a flash drive that you could give to each recruiter with all the information he needs to set up for the job fair in an efficient and appealing way.
First of all, you want to provide a map so that each recruiter knows where to set up his booth. You could arrange this map yourself. Or the recruiters could pick where they want to be on a first-come, first-serve basis. They could also bid on the best locations if they are paying to set up at the fair. Once the map is arranged, make sure that each recruiter knows where he is supposed to be so that setup day goes smoothly.
Next, you want to list some ground rules for recruiters to follow. Make sure they display signs clearly and legibly so visitors know which companies are represented at which booths. If they have a map to follow and signs that are easy to see, they will be much more comfortable in finding where to go.
Tell recruiters just to set up in their designated areas. If items are strewn into the aisles or into other businesses’ booths, navigating the fair will be more confusing. Also, business representatives may become annoyed with each other for cutting into space. Eliminate these potential problems before they start.
Advise them to engage students in a friendly manner. While they may have a picky list of qualities they are looking for in a potential employee, many students have never been to a job fair before although they may possess great qualities for being hired. Recruiters should be cordial and encourage conversation with those who walk by the booths.
Next, provide links and contact information for the group or groups that are sponsoring the job fair. Recruiters may need to get in touch to ask questions or change arrangements. At CFgear, we can also print this info on the flash drive itself (in up to 4 colors!).
Once you’ve compiled the information to put on the flash drive, the CFgear team can help design an easy-to-navigate layout. When the final product is done, the USB flash drives can be duplicated many times so you have one to give to each recruiter. You can drop one into each packet of information that you give to the recruiters. Then, they can put it in a computer and view their instructions.
