USBuilt Ford Tough

In a very weird way I think I long to be one those Ford truck men I assume are the type that keep it simple, stay tough through even the hardest of times, and just plain get the job done. But I have to be honest and embrace the reality that there’s still a part, if not a large part, of me that’s not so tough, not so simple and doesn’t always just “plain” get the job done (can you say “perfectionism”?…which makes getting anything done almost impossible!). So that’s why I settled on a Ford Taurus a little over twelve years ago. Yes, good ol’ Fred has made ‘er on the blog before. In fact, just a few thousand miles ago, I thought he was done for. So close to the monumental 200,000 mile mark at that! But alas it was an honest “diesel in the ethanol pump” mistake that merely sidetracked Fred for a few days.

While I am very good about tending to scheduled maintenance, I give the American designers, engineers and production team two thumbs up on the Taurus! Last weekend, en route to Madison, South Dakota for my son’s youth football game, Fred proudly rolled over to 200,000 miles as my father, son and I looked on.

There’s something to be said about buying something for the long-haul. In this all too disposable culture of ours where some folks can’t fathom “holding on” to a vehicle (or anything) beyond a few years, it’s assuring to know that for those that value going the distance with their consumables, the level of quality is high enough to not only endure the test of time but be solid enough to make me feel proud to have gone the distance with ol’ Fred.

That’s the same attitude we have around CFgear. We don’t waste time with cheap. We understand not everyone values the total cost of ownership when contemplating a business or personal purchase, but we aren’t here to please everyone. Yes you heard that correctly. For us to please everyone would mean we’d have to offer varying levels of quality. Some folks value only the cheapest price. Whereas other folks value products with a focus on long-term quality just like what the Ford team did with my 1996 Ford Taurus! That’s where CFgear shines!
