CFgear has always been on the cutting edge with USB technology and once again we one of the first companies to offer custom USB 3.1 and custom Type-C flash drives in quantity and with full customization options. What is USB 3.1 and Type C flash drives? Here is a brief overview:
A Type-C Connection allows a user let you free up space on your next generation phone, tablet or computer that features Type-C ports, up to 128GB! Type-C is a description of the port connection itself. It’s small, compact, and can replace the standard USB Type-A and B connections as well as the myriad of micro and mini USB ports. Over the next few years, look for Type-C to begin becoming the universal port for all devices including desktop, laptop, and mobile. One thing to note, because announcements of Type-C connections have come hand in hand with USB 3.1, many people assume they’re the same, or at the very least that all Type-C runs on the 3.1 spec. This is not the case. Remember, Type-C is the connection type and may actually run on a lesser spec – USB 2.0 even – so don’t assume you’ll be getting all that 3.1 goodness just because you see that tiny reversible port.
One unique quality to CFgear Type-C flash drives are the fact that the Type-C connector is completely reversible. There is no incorrect way to plug into the device or jamming or breaking of a charger or port! Another advantage of the Type-C flash drive is the transfer speeds and where the connection to USB 3.1 comes into play. Featuring rapid transit USB 3.1 speeds up to 150MB/s, CFgear Type-C custom flash drives provide virtually instant access to multimedia files or applications on computers and portable devices. Also keep in mind USB 3.1 is backward compatible with USB 3.0 and 2.0 Type-C ports. In addition, CFgear USB Type-C Flash Drives are compatible with PC and Mac computers running Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Mac OS X operating systems.
USB 3.1 Flash Drives (aka USB 3.1/gen 2) are the successor to USB 3.0. USB 3.1 can double the transfer speed of 3.0 up to a whopping 10 GB p/s and like previous versions of USB, it is fully backwards compatible with its predecessors. When used in conjunction with the Type-C connection, things get really interesting for 3.1. The 100W of PD v2.0 is enough to power and charge full sized notebooks, which means the proprietary AC port may soon be replaced by this universal alternative. With 4 data lanes, USB 3.1 Type-C can even carry Display Port and HDMI video signals, further adding to its ubiquity. Again, one port to rule them all.
CF gear is capitalizing on this process with a DUAL USE custom TYPE-C AND USB 3.1 USB flash drive in one single form factor in two styles! We expect to have pricing, options and availability of CFgear custom Type-C and USB 3.1 flash drives in early 2017!
